Frequently asked questions

The questions workshops and distributors ask before their first order.

Answers

Do the factory controls keep working?

Yes. The iDrive, COMAND or MMI rotary controller, steering-wheel buttons and the original vehicle settings menus all continue to work. The retrofit unit decodes the CANBUS messages for that chassis.

Will the original reversing camera still display?

Yes on every chassis in the fitment tables. The camera feed is passed through to the new screen, and the reverse trigger wire is included in the harness.

Is any coding required?

Not for the majority of chassis. Where coding is needed, typically on some EVO and NTG6.0 cars, we supply the step list with the kit.

What is the difference between the Android and Linux platform?

Android gives you the Play Store, offline navigation and split-screen apps with a boot time of roughly 20 seconds. Linux boots in under 3 seconds and presents an interface styled to match the original system. Both run wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Can I fit it myself?

A competent installer with trim tools can complete the job in 60 to 90 minutes. If you have not done this chassis before, budget a little longer for the first unit.

Do you supply trade and distribution customers?

Yes. We supply workshops, distributors and retrofit chains, with documentation and wiring diagrams in English.

Still have a question?

Send it over and we will answer with the specifics for your chassis.
